When should you start taking care of your skin?
I am the type of person that doesn’t go to clinics to do face mask or lifting (yet). It’s not that I don’t like it, but I’m just not wired to do it. Also, when I was young I had a bad experience during my session. My face got swollen and the technician doesn’t know what she’s doing. I tried to overcome it but every time I let someone touch my face, I always end up with more breakouts so I stopped it completely and went for the non invasive creams.
When should you start?
As early as you can! Your skin will thank you in the long run when you take care of it while you are still young. I started taking care of my skin at the age of 20 years old. I started with moisturizer and SPF 30 lotions. Make sure to buy product that are meant for your age. There is a reason why they recommend specific skin care for certain ages. You don’t want to be using products that is meant for 40 years old, it has more collagen or anti aging ingredients that your skin might not need yet.
Which brand?
This is a tough one! You have to find what works for you. You have to try multiple products before finding the right one for you. Me? I am an OLAY girl ever since, I love their moisturizer and lotions.
Cheap or Expensive?
I have tried expensive ones and drugstore skin care products and to me they’re just the same. You might find that not all expensive brand delivers. As I said earlier, you need to find what will work on your skin. But I use Estée Lauder night repair serum together with my OLAY moisturizers.
What are my skincare staples?
1. Toner
2. Serum
3. Moisturizer
4. SPF 30 sunscreen
I don’t like to complicate my routine, otherwise I won’t be able to follow it. So I made it simple, in the morning I follow these:
1. I wash my face with just water,
2. Apply my toner directly ( I don’t use pads)
3. Apply my serum,
4. Then apply my moisturizer,
5. Lastly , apply the sunscreen.
At night, I wash my face with foam cleanser and follow the steps from 2-4.
Don’t forget to take care of your skin from within. Meaning, you can’t expect to have a good skin when all you eat are junk foods. Some are lucky but not everyone is. Eat healthy, hydrate, exercise, and drink vitamins.
I hope this you find this helpful!
As always, hello life!
